So I found my Orange Scone recipe after a quisk search on the internet...and away I went...
1 cup all purpose flour
3 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon orange zest
1/3 cup butter (very cold; cut into small pieces)
1 cup oatmeal
2 slightly beaten egg whites
2 tablespoons orange juice
1 tablespoon milk
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Sift together the flour, sugar and baking powder. Add the orange zest and stir with a whisk until combined. Cut in the butter and combine until a coarse meal is formed. Stir in the oats. Combine the egg whites and orange juice with the oat mixture. Turn the mixture out onto a floured board. Kned slightly just until all ingredients are combined. Form into a 7" disk and cut into 12 wedges. Brush lightly with milk. Bake on lightly greased sheets for 12-15 minutes (until golden brown).

The scones didn't rise as much as I thought they would, but I believe this recipe was based on another recipe for "flat" scones. Right out of the oven, they tasted scrumtious though...not too sweet, hearty and slightly orangey. I think I'll whip up a little orange glaze to go with them....
yummmmmmmmmmmmm

later gaters!

Did you ever get around to preparing the glaze? I'm curious how you would do that.
